From Tony Shulthise, organizer:

Seneca Park advanced BEGINNER ride followed by advanced Moderate ride

Advanced BEGINNER portion
Distance - Approx. 4 miles (you can cut this short anytime you like and ride back on the roads)
Duration - Approx. 1.5 hours or less
Ride Rating - advanced BEGINNER (click link for descriptions. This is advanced for a beginner ride but no one will be left behind) This ride can be very challenging for a beginner and involves rocks, roots, some pretty steep climbs, some logs to get over, etc... You need to be coordinated and confident on a bike to make this one. You don't have to know a lot about mountain biking. We will help you through any obstacles you want help with.

Wear shoes with good treads
Wear biking gloves to protect your hands if you fall
Wear protective eye wear. There are many branches that cross the trail

Advanced MODERATE portion
This ride will start after the conclusion of the beginner ride. We will continue and ride the Cherokee side of the park. This section requires very good endurance, good technical skills on your bike and the ability to move relatively fast. It is very strenuous.
Distance - Approx. 8 miles (you can cut is short anytime you like and ride back on the roads)
Duration - Approx. 1.5 hours (we ride back on the road in the dark)
Ride Rating - advanced MODERATE (click link for descriptions. If you can't keep up on this one you will need to drop and ride the roads back.) This ride involves rocks, roots, some pretty steep climbs, some logs to get over, etc... You need to be very coordinated and very confident on a bike to make this one. You should have at least 25 rides on technical mountain biking courses and be in excellent fitness to do this ride.

For the second ride....
You should have a tail light for your bike for the night ride back to the car on the road
You should have some kind of reflectors on your body or your bike

Requirements:
1. Mountain bike in good working order (test ride your bike BEFORE you come. Make sure the brakes work well, the tires are properly inflated and the bike shifts properly into all gears. PLEASE - DO NOT come without test riding your bike to make sure everything works properly)
2. Helmet. Its easy to forget to bring a helmet. I've done it but I just bold it here so you don't forget. You will need a helmet to ride with us. There may or may not be extra's available so don't forget.
3. Bring water. Don't forget to bring ID and your insurance card in case of an emergency.

Finding Us - Meet at Basketball Courts parking lot near the Seneca walking track. We will hit the trail at 6:30 sharp. Be there at 6:15 so you can unload and be ready to roll. We have to leave on time to allow time for the ride following.

This is a moderate ride requiring beginner mountain biking skills and begninner to moderate fitness. If it is raining or if the trails are muddy we will NOT meet. Please check back for this listing the day before the ride.

This Meetup repeats every week on Monday until August 1, 2010.
